PETALS N PROPS ADDS A LITTLE SOMETHING EXTRA.

Standard

PETALS ‘N PROPS CATEGORY.

FFFBLMWLD17-C9BC. A patterned subject here provides an image loaded with curiosity. A central piece surrounded by a myriad of wildflowers make a bush jigsaw. Perhaps a fraction closer and less involved would have made it even better for the viewer to enjoy. But!

FFFBLMWLD17-C9ZD. Again this image would have suited any of several categories. This is truly thinking outside the box, and illustrates a keen eye. A pic that is so often seen throughout the Oz countryside and bush. Imagine if the KWC had got a little closer to the posts, or just one using it in the foreground.

FFFBLMWLD17-C9WE.A picked a handful of wildflowers and arranged them into a bouquet. Then, placed them in the rocky surround to be used as a prop. Well designed and composed making the best use of natural light.

FFFBLMWLD17-C9. This one by jumps out at you with its concept. However, the shadows on the side are distracting and involve others that dont help the composition. Full marks though for thought and imagination, and the chance to improve for another time.

FFFBLMWLD17-C9CS. Clay used an idea that is admirable, but could have used it more effectively. Had he got down lower, and focused more on the flower would have been a thought. Taking into the consideration the rule of thirds and a better placement of the windmill in the composition could have added to its appeal. Perhaps, a little closer to the windmill, or placing a flower somewhere on it is another idea that would have worked well.

FFFBLMWLD17-C9EWC.Let your imagination run wild; and imagine what you can see in this image. Imagine a dolphin wearing a shiny strand of red gems. Look at the shape and can you see the creatures eye? No, oh well what do you see? A subtle shot that fires the imagination or just takes your eye for whatever reason. That’s what photography is all about.

FLOWERVISTA SHOWS ANOTHER VIEW OF WA’S WILDFLOWERS. WHAT A CHOICE.

Standard

FLOWERVISTA

Until you have walked in the bush in the early days of Spring you cant imagine the number of wildflower varieties to be discovered to be there year after year. And the amazing thing is that from time to time new ones are uncovered. That must be a thrill for the finders! So is it a thrill when one of the Kids With Cameras find their own rare gem of a photograph that grows into a SUPER SHOT.

CHOICE-MAKER; Dr. Pete Marshall.     FFFBLMWLD17-C8GBKJ. Kyan captured a lone flower in the bush, and used the surroundings with good composition to help enhance the image. The flower is in full bloom and to use the phrase; “blooming beautiful”.

FFFBLMWLD17-C8.A similar to the shot above, but this time the flower looking like bright yellow saucer waiting for a picnic treat. Every image must have something to catch the eye, and this one certainly has.

FFFBLMWLD17-C8MJPGC. Dr. Pete was captivated by the combination of the tree and the plant.  Dark contrast background – love this one …. the dark trunks and spikey stems, which are good compositionally, are such a contrast to the white flowers, and the out of focus green background sets it all off well. Something different and appealing in this shot by Georgia with strong depth of field to add to its clarity.

FFFBLMWLD17-C8BTWNCS. Clay worked a gem in this shot taken in the Donnybrook bush. Lovely colour balance and great angle Good composition and movement of eye around image. Once again the focus of this image is “flowerful”, and highlights the category theme.

FFFBLMWLD17-C8NPTB.  Pete was attracted to this images nice composition, movement of eye and colour balance. All part of the package in setting out to create a SUPER SHOT that can go onto greater heights.

FFFBLMWLD17-C8NPSB.  Once more a single flower takes the eye, and in this image is used effectively against the surrounding backdrop to make it stand out even more.

FFFBLMWLD17-C8BGPM. Meg of Balingup went out on a limb to combine the flower and branch into the composition of this shot. A well balanced and pleasant to the eye photo that will get plenty of admiring glances.

THE WA BLACKWOOD VALLEY IS TREEMENDOUS.

Standard

The category title says it all, and those in this superlative collection are worthy of the old adage – a picture is better than a  thousand words.  As you have come to realise over the past weeks the WA southwest has its share of rare and wonderful wildflowers. The same can be said for the trees that grow there. From the stands of gigantic Jarrahs, Blackwoods and the many others the views are awesome. To stand by the giants towering hundreds of metres above your head, and ponder their history stretching back over several centuries you can be only amazed. As you can of these images.

CHOICE-MAKER; ROBERT BAKER.

FFFBLMWLD17-C7BTCG. A tree sprouts tall and proud from a garland of wildflowers at its base aiming for the sky. A good combination of subjects to make its story. Cameron won’t be feeling blue about this.

FFFBLMWLD17-C7NPSB. Found not far from the school, this image again is a reflection on the devastation and beauty of the bush.  Excellent composition and lighting work to make this a SUPER SHOT for Shay of Nannup.

FFFBLMWLD17-C7MGPKD. This by Kieran of Nortcliffe could easily wear the caption of “a starry starry night”. But, this unique image hides a near full moon beyond  the canopy of branches blocking out its view. A pensive image that inspires the eye, and all this done at night. An image to be admired for it’s finding.

FFFBLMWLD17-C7BGPR. So typical of the Australian bush, and especially this part of the world. Taking down low and looking across the ground to the trees in the distance. Clean and sharp image for Reagan to be proud of Balingup.

FFFBLMWLD17-C7BYBDN. A pic of rural magnitude fills the frame with this shot by Detlin. Taking in the image of tree in its natural setting makes a cool spot for a horse, or just a place for a swaggie to lay down his tired bones for a rest from the bleaching sun. Every photo has its own story to tell.

FFFBLMWLD17-C7GBKC. A well balanced image with the tree trunk growing from the left hand corner raising to a canopy of branches to cover the rest of the frame. A well thought out concept by Kyan of Greenbushes.

FFFBLMWLD17-C7MGGC(P). Showing the scars of a life in the outdoors, this mighty tree spreads its branches to call to the sky above. Like everything alive in the bush, the trees battle the environment to survive. This image pays tribute to their endurance and capacity to survive. That’s a story caught by the camera in itself by Georgia of Northcliffe.

FFFBLMWLD17-C7NPTB. The FF Camera Clue is not to look in to the light – but as we have said before – rules are made to be broken. And, in this case the risk certainly paid off for Tiana of Nannup High school.

FOCUS FORCE GREENBUSHES PS  Kids With Cameras

The junior snappers of the small school were shouting for joy at seeing their works on show at the local CRC in the town last week. Then more excitement when they were moved to the country show held at Bridgetown on the weekend. This follows the recent exhibition at Nannup and others to come at Balingup, Boyup Brook and Manjimup. Then the big one in January at Manjimup. The photo show the bright sparks standing amongst their “garden” of SUPER SHOTS.

On Sunday, you will see the CHOICE-MAKERS selection for the TREEMENDOUS collection, and on Wednesday the FLOWERVISTA CHOICES. SIMPLE TECHNIQUES CAPTURE THE WATERWILD BY THE Kids With Cameras.

Standard

WATERWILD is not a regular category of the FOCUS FORCE projects, and was added after reading of the many aspects water was seen as part of the local environment. As it is everywhere. From there, like all occasions it became a matter of interpretation as it always as does. While some of these may have been missed, FOCUS FORCE is more than delighted with those that were submitted, and are featured here. All categories were added to provide variety to the final selections, and encourage the Kids With Cameras to not have a singular thought when taking their photos and looking for the elusive SUPER SHOTS.

FFFBLMWLD17-C6BGTWD(P). Will found that raindrops falling on my flowers creates a beautiful effect. What is considered by many photographers to be a natural occurrence, makes us all aware of how the scene can be so attractive. Worthy of the effort, and of course a POST Of PRAISE.

FFFBLMWLD17-C6MGPC. You will see throughout this short series, several images like this where the shutter speed has been slowed, and the camera lens stayed open longer to “freeze” the water flow in the back of the image. A very clever moment of technique by a young KWC Charlise.  FOCUS FORCE asks you to long enough to enjoy it.

FFFBLMWLD17-C6MGPGC. Georgia C once agbain uses her eye to intrigue ours with this image. From what we can see the wattle, sharp and clear is strong against a muted focus looking through a background of branches into a pool of water.

FFFBLMWLD17-C6MGPT. Study this shot, and you will see X marks the spot to find a SUPER SHOT. A clever little by clever little Tabatha using the reflection in the water to see the other point of view of this flower. Good eye.

FFFBLMWLD17-C6BGPWD. Will once again works the leading line approach to take your eye to his major part of the subject. Again featuring the teardrop flower petal as his “eye-piece”. So many of the KWC picked up on the camera clues to help them.

FFFBLMWLD17-C6MGPKD. Once again the watery backdrop adds to the atmosphere of this image by Kieran of Northcliffe.  There is nothing to complain about the result, with light highlights adding to the effect.

TONY’S IMAGINE – IT’S MAGIC TO THE EYE.

Standard

Every SUPER SHOT has an air of creativity, but with those chosen for the TONY IMAGINE award there is something extra with the feel of a touch of magic. This is inspired by the Kids With Cameras stepping outside the boundaries and finding something that others have walked by, or simply missed the foto op before their eyes. It is the ultimate find in the FOCUS FORCE hide and seek game of searching for a SUPER SHOT, It is truly a moment of magic as seen in these images. MORE TO COME LATER, but show your appreciation with a POST Of Praise for this collection, and make the Kids With Cameras excited.

CHOICE-MAKER – SIMON SANTI. WEST AUSTRALIAN PHOTO JOURNALIST.

FFFBLMWLD17-C5BGPT.   This pleasant placing makes for great composition making the image pleasing to the eye. The line of flowers rolling across the frame is almost in symmetry and like a line of ballet dancers gliding across the stage in beautiful pink garments.

FFFBLMWLD17-C5BUBKJ. An image that has plenty of well placed light and shows the variety of vegetation in the dense West Australian bush. Chosen for its wide ranging appeal and a worthy inclusion for the category by Kyan.FFFBLMWLD17-C5NPFC. Here you could can say rules are open to be broken, but on the other hand what about providing light! In this, one counters the other, and a lot is to be said for this little ray of sunshine.

FFFBLMWLD17-C5BTIG.  Emerging from the right, the potent yellow flower takes your eye just past the centre and into another third of the image. There you see the stem, insect and the dappled texture of the leaf. A striking pic of nature at its best.

FFFBLMWLD17-C5BTLH.   An intoxicating image of blended  flower power in the myriad of colours painted on natures canvas, and captured in ideal composition by Lilee of Bridgetown.

FFFBLMWLD17-C5NPBT. This image is a web of intrigue using lights and shadows to add to its fascination. A subject often found by Kids With Cameras, and inspired by its intricacy. A bushland trap of beauty.

FFFBLMWLD17-C5BTCS. Clay went digging amongst the leaves to find this image of interest. A jigsaw of flowers add the colour to this shot, as they do throughout the Springtime bushland scene. All so simple – all so relaxing.

FFFBLMWLD17-C5MPC.  Charlise of Pemberton attempted to play tricks with this image pushing the blossom in foreground out of focus and the tree behind clear. How did she do it – what do you think?

FFFBLMWLD17-C5EBS. A blazing image found in the Nannup bushland by Em. A potent composition that lures the eye to its unmistakable beauty. A rare find to be appreciated forever as an artistic image. FFFBLMWLD17-C5MGPGC.  So much mystical beauty in this image by Georgia provides so much attraction for the viewers. This young KWC is working through the understandings of her camera, and will be a natural when she becomes fully experienced. Just like so many of the West Australians who took part in the project.

FFFBLMWLD17-C5BGPM. Just a like a double headed ice cream this stunning  combination will take some licking to be beaten. But, in such a powerful field, the image by Meg of Balingup demonstrates a good eye with composition, balance and striking colour. What else can you say but; “good luck”.  FFFBLMWLD17-C5NPAS. This is so typical of the Australian bush with the gum leaf synonymous with everything we know about it. Providing food and shelter for the animals including the cuddly koala, this leading line by A gives an insight into the texture which is also the resting place for the insect.

FFFBLMWLD17-C5BTWWD. Will like some of the other homeschoolers traveled to the Bridgetown area to participate in the project. This lily although not strictly a native, it was found like thousands of others growing wild in the bush, and in this shot is beautifully framed within the tree.

FOYM – REMINDING KWC WITH THESE THOUGHTS.

Standard

MILESTONE SLIPPED BY ALMOST UNNOTICED.

Not so long ago the ONE THOUSANDTH comment or POST Of PRAISE appeared on the focusfor. Not surprisingly it was written by one of FOCUS FORCE most prolific and constant supporters. While it has been said in the past FF doesn’t spread the word as most other social media users do; we do what we consider is appropriate and encourage others to spread  the word.

But, our humble and limited audience can be a dedicated crew during specific events and occasions. Paula of Portland is one of those, and just as often she is congratulating someone else’s KWC as much she does her own. The Kids With Cameras appreciates everyone’s input, and it is to be sure that they are all read with pride.

AND IT’S GOOD TO SEE that at last some POST’S Of PRAISE are starting to trickle through for the BLOOMING WILD FLORA FOTO FEST Kids With Cameras. Keep ’em rollin in. That means the first REWARD POINTS are mounting up.

NO CHRISTMAS CARD IMAGE TAKERS – YET.

There have been no registrations for the card photo yet, and FOCUS FORCE thinks perhaps that not has be gotten around to yet. Entries close on November 30th. So you still have time!

DON’T SHOOT THE POSTMAN – HE’S GOT THE MAIL.

And the good news is at least one case has delivered it. There’s still a couple to go and FOCUS FORCE hopes that the Kids With Cameras opens their envelopes with pride. They deserve to.

FOCUS FORCE ROCKLEY CALENDARS WILL BE AVAILABLE IN TIME FOR CHRISTMAS.

With the elves frantically hammering and preparing the Chrissie gifts, FOCUS FORCE would like to remind you that annual calendar is in the process of being created. This year it will exclusively feature the stunning SUPER SHOTS from the ROCKLEY FLOWER FOTO AWARDS 2017. Make sure you respond quickly when the order forms go out in the first week of December.
