IT’S THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR and there’s lots on FOCUS FORCE’S mind with a collection of mind boggling activities for the Kids With Cameras.
KANGAROO ISLAND Kids With Cameras PREPARE FOR THEIR OWN “ROYAL COMMAND” PERFORMANCE.
FOCUS FORCE officially heard this week that the Cunard cruise liner, the QUEEN VICTORIA will participate in the third FLASH Of FRIENDSHIP when she departs the waters of Penneshaw on March 4. It will be a spectacular foto op as the leaving will occur just on dusk as a night sky begins to fall. The “command” will come from the ship’s horn as it blasts 3 times to signal the event. Excitement will build through the day with her arrival early in the morning with a highlight being the Captain coming ashore to meet a group of FOCUS FORCE FRIENDSHIP AMBASSADORS.
The Master, Peter Philpott will be joined by several senior officers and the ships photographer, himself looking for his own Super Shots to capture the moment in history as the QV lies at anchor for the first time ever at Kangaroo Island.
As tradition has now established, the ship and her captain will be presented with the FOCUS FORCE FRIENDSHIP ALBUM containing letters of welcome from the Deputy Mayor, the SA Premier, local state and federal members together with the words of the children.
This extract from the letter of the Member for Finniss Michael Pengilly sums it up”Kangaroo Island boasts beautiful rugged coast lines, untouched natural flora and fauna, and so often its” beauty captures visitors from far and wide. The Queen Victoria’s maiden visit will, I’m sure be no exception to its audience as the local school children, friends, families and communities of Penneshaw and Kangaroo Island basks in the pleasure of her stopover”.
Throughout the day, the Kids With Cameras will focus on images of Queen Victoria as she waits patiently for the guests to return, and the grand finale as she departs. The selected SUPER SHOTS, will be placed in categories with CHOICES for the best being made for each by the Captain and the other letter writers.
FOCUS FORCE SUPER SHOTS ARE SELECTED FOR THEIR” WOW POWER” FACTOR.
As in all FOCUS FORCE FOTO projects the Kids With Cameras will be encouraged to look beyond the box, searching for the “little picture” that will spark the imagination of the viewers that take time to admire them. To prepare them for that they will take part in the FF FUN FOTO workshop program learning hints on how to be creative with their cameras. The ethos of the FOCUS FORCE program being not to take what is around you for granted; find its mystery; it’s beauty.
Thanks to Jamie, Sylvia and David from Inchcape for helping facilitate this, and making contact with the ship. And also to Desiree Durg for inspirational photograph above and helping keeping the project rolling.
This is more than foto shoot; it’s a foto event to commemorate the maiden visit of the CUNARD QUEEN VICTORIA.

All the fun and hype of the lunar new year is upon us, as all cultures come together to and celebrate this special time. FOCUS FORCE has special memories of it with the FRIENDSHIP EXHIBITION that was delivered to China by two Friendship Ambassadors in 1999. The two girls with their mothers visited Beijing, and Xian and Shanghai where they attended schools there. In the latter they spent the day in a secondary school where they were feted as very important guests. A memory I am sure they will hold dearly in their lives. So, lets see how you see the year of the monkey.
