FOYM – FULL OF NEWS & CHALLENGES.

Standard

The old saying goes ” time flies when you’re having fun”. And it could be no more appropriate now than it is for most of the Kids With Cameras as the holidays near their end. It’s nearly six weeks since you walked out the school gate, and a month since Santa’s sack was left under the Christmas tree. Now all that is gone, and soon the school bell will be ringing again. Get ready for a BIG YEAR for the Kids With Cameras, and more rewards that will inspire you on to greater heights.

AUSTRALIA DAY… MY WAY.

 With the Australia Day 2016 looming on the horizon, FOCUS FORCE invites the first Kids With Cameras foto project for the year. The only guidelines for the assignment is that the images (maximum 3) must be taken on the day, and reflect how you celebrate the day. 3 categories; Traditional. Creative and Incorporating the Flag. Reward Points start for the year. Go for it!

TRY YOUR EYE WITH THIS CHALLENGE.

MISHA MAKES HER CLAIM ON THE 16 JAS TITLE.
RCK 15 Prest, MRAVWhile it’s been a hot battle between two of the Kids With Cameras for the right to wear the crown for the JAS recognition for 2015, the decision has been made. All of the years KWC put in their best with two pushing the friendly foto rivalry. As tradition has it, in January FOCUS FORCE takes pride in announcing this years claimant; Misha Ravipati, the youngest of the succeeders from the last 4 years. She too, will be encouraged to be a FOCUS FORCE FRIENDSHIP AMBASSADOR. FOCUS FORCE congratulates all the other KWC who took on the challenges throughout  the year, and made it so interesting.

TOYS ADD UP TO GREAT SCORES FOR FAV IMAGES.

Thanks to CHOICEMAKER Leanne Cole for making her selection for the top scoring selections for the foto project who made the comment as the images were all great. When the CHOICEMAKERS make these remarks, coming from such experienced eyes adds to the value and the potential of these young snappers of the future.

Lauren Puli toy (2) LP5. The  CREATIVE AWARD, and also taking out the OVERALL BEST for the project was composed by Lauren with the CHOICEMAKER backing up her decision with these words; “the teddy in the bread box best, shows great imagination “.

Misha took out the first overall best in the ZOOPER ZOOPICS in the inaugural submissions for this ongoing project. Claiming 2 SUPER SHOTS in the category list her score for the project was 1200.  The Choicemakers opinion of this was;

This is a great shot. Not only has the photographer ignored the fact the faces of the animals are not in view, she has composed the image very well, to actually make a considered composition of shapes, colours, lights and darks. It is well balanced and interesting, leaving the viewers eye much to take in and assess, but with shape and light being the focus rather than a “portrait” of an animal.  Very well done.

Lauren spent hours at the zoo also and claimed BEST  with this image selected as her favourite in the CHOICE category captured in the butterfly house.  The Choicemaker said of this;

 A balanced focused photo with good colour contrast between the orange brown and the greens. This shows greater depth and interest in the background, which compliments the subject nicely and does not over power it

About focusfor

The FOCUS FORCE photographic workshop program for Kids With Cameras is based in Melbourne, Australia. The projects have gone beyond the Victorian borders, into New South Wales, and Tasmania.Through others including a backpacker it has been provided to children in Thailand, and a teacher in Portugal has inspired children there as well. Apart, from the fun of learning about the camera and developing the skill of taking better photos; the best of which are raised to the status of SUPER SHOTS,the works have been mounted as collections under the banner of the FOCUS FORCE FRIENDSHIP EXHIBITIONS, and sent as gifts of friendship and goodwill to the United States, Italy, Japan, China - others are still being worked on. The program enrciches the children's knowledge, and as a side benefit makes them more aware of their own surroundings,and all that is to value where they live. Then comes the delight of being achievers, and having their self esteem boosted by their successes.The term "kids with cameras" was first used by the program's forerunner; CLICKER - the "club for kids with cameras", and dates back to the mid 1980's. The name change came about as wanting to be more appropriate to the older student group that the program now works with.
