Standard

OVER THE COMING MONTHS there are  many things happening in our, and your world. Half way through winter and Spring on  the horizon will see lots of opportunities to find those SUPER SHOT potentials. Stop, and think, wouldn’t it be fun to share those images with the many other Kids With Cameras and not only inspire them with your creations, but also inspre them to get out and look for their own. Here’s a sample of some of the ideas that will FOCUS FORCE will be looking for. Look below as to how you can participate, and add to your REWARD POINTS.

WINTER’S WONDERLAND.

img003No matter where in this great land you live, the coolest season can be so different! In the southern states where the temperature dips to 1 and less, you’ll feel chilling winds and even snow. While the further north you go, the warmer it is! This is the chance to find snow on a tree or water dripping from a petal. Come on give it a go, and lets see winter in your part of the world.

TESSELAARS TULIP FESTIVAL

TTULIPF14-TICMP1TISoon to be celebrating their 62nd festival in the hills of the Dandenongs, Tesselaars have planted an additional 10 thousand tulips to break out in a kaleidoscope of colour in the first weeks of September, and that means Spring. This proved to be a treasure trove of images for the 2015 ROLCKLEY FLOWER FOTO EXHIBITION and AWARDS, and FOCUS FORCE is looking for another chest of submissions for this year.

CANBERRA’S FLORIADE – MORE TULIP MAGNIFICENCE

rcknce15-mb40  Canberra is famous for its grand show of tulips in Spring also and this year FF is sure that the presentation will be just as grand! For the first time is putting the word out there to inspire Kids With Cameras to be there clicking to their hearts content, and show us what they’ve got to be so proud of! Lets see if we can have our own TULIP FESTIVAL at next year’s MELBOURNE INTERNATIONAL FLOWER & GARDEN SHOW.

TULIPS IN BOWRAL.

rck16 sub. MP3   Up on the north coast of new south wales, the tulips make the impression also springing from the ground with all their brilliance, adding a touch of Dutch to the countryside and the gardens of the locals. Another festival created around the blooms that used to be regarded for their currency value. Now one of their highest regarded values is seen in them through the camera lens. Open up your eyes to their much appreciated values.

A SALUTE TO THE LIGHTHOUSES OF THE AUSTRALIAN COAST – It’s their CENTENARY.

img017 This is one of the two lighthouses on the shores surrounding Portland. They are just two of the many dotting the coastline of Australia. and in this year we celebrate their centenary. Now something of yesteryear their task of protecting and safeguarding the many ships of the sea, their duty has been taken over by the modern communications and technology of the 21st century. However, they still provide a service, and like this one are surrounded and sited in picturesque locations. FOCUS FORCE invites Kids With Cameras  in September to visit them and look for your own SUPER SHOTS to commemorate them, and preserve the images for future generations.

MELBOURNE SHOW. ADELAIDE  & PERTH, HOBART and all the ones in between.

FFMELBSH14-NL1Every year the grand event comes around, and not only in Melbourne, but also the other state capital cities, and of course the country shows. It’s an opportunity for everyone to get out and have foto fun, as well as pet a lamb or cuddle a chicken or duckling! Not to forget all the screaming excitement of the rides and the arena entertainment. FOCUS FORCE will be looking for a REVIEW Of The SHOWS in November.

CUNARD’S CRUISE LINER QUEEN VICTORIA VISIT TO KANGAROO ISLAND, & ADELAIDE .WHILE THE QUEEN ELIZABETH MAKES A MAIDEN STOP IN NEWCASTLE.

PTLE _DSC0013Three years ago the QUEEN ELIZABETH was the first ever to respond to a FOCUS FORCE FLASH Of GRIENDSHIP as she departed te heads of Melbourne’s Port Philip Bay after her first visit to the city. Next year she stops over for a day, cruising down the Hunter river to berth. Down south another major event happens when the QUEEN VICTORIA departs Hobart and heads across the Southern ocean to finally reach Kangaroo island where she will be given a rousing welcome, and another planned FLASH Of FRIENDSHIP by the local Kids With Cameras. Then she will depart heading to the mainland, and once again a maiden call to Adelaide.

 CRANBOURNE BOTANICAL GARDENS

wowh14bc-5These gardens in contrast to the Melbourne Botanic Gardens feature everything that is Australiana. Landscaped beds displaying all the flowers from the wild make this a trip into the outback and bush, so much different in the growth that you find there. Here, you will find delights that survive in the harshest of environments and climates. But, what wonders for the eye to behold. Plans are also in the pot for a Kids With Cameras project day – probably on a weekend. You can register your interest for this.

WERRIBEE PARK MANSION & FREE RANGE ZOO.

The spectacular views of the magnificent mansion looking out over the state rose garden is a photographers delight, and add to this a foto safari amongst the animals including rhinos and giraffes is a camera challenge worth considering. The location provides for a diverse range of foto ops, and FF invites you to rise to the occasion.

WORLD ANIMAL DAY – MELBOURNE ZOO.

Melbourne’s Royal Zoological Gardens is recognized as amongst the worlds best. That’s why you cant go past it as a photographic location with it’s enclosures providing the closest environment to the animals natural habitat. Whether it be a lion or tiger lazing in the sun, eyeing you off as a tasty morsel or a wallaby lying back for a tummy rub. You will be tested to find anything better this side of the black stump. FOCUS FORCE is hoping to provide a special foto treat for the Kids With Cameras on this day – so be ready!

BRIMBANK’S – ORGAN PIPES.

A favourite feature of Melbourne’s western suburbs Brimbank park, these are a series of stone outcrops formed hundreds, and most likely thousands of years ago. Lining the wall of a valley they stretch up the wall, and provide us with another marvel of nature. We look forward to seeing a collection of images to create a FF FOTO FEATURE for other Kids With Cameras to be amazed by.

 WHERE ARE THE WHALES?

Their journeys from the cold waters of the Antartic bring these animals of the deep on voyages of thousands on Kilometres to the warmer waters of the Ozzie coast. From the Indian ocean in the west, along the shores of the south and the Southern ocean, all the way up the east coast to the tropics of Queensland. You can see the mammoth creatures, frolicking and enjoying their holiday. Along the Victorian coast and at Warrnambools Logan’s beach and Nursery Bay where they return to give birth they are a major attraction. In Portland, where they take refuge in the bay, which now hosts visitors of another kind with the cruise liners dropping anchor throughout the summer months.

 PORTLAND’S PETRIFIED FOREST.

Standing like trees, these fosilised mounds have a number of theories as to how they came about. A little known attraction on the cliffs just outside the city they are a marvelous example of nature at work. They also provide for a fantastic foto shoot using them against the seacapes and harsh backdrop of the rugged coastline.

MY FAVOURITE TOY.

Amongst all that we treasure in the toybox, there is the favourite that captures our attention – and the one that we like to spend the most hours with when no one else is around. Here is the chance to capture that special friend whether it be Barbie or another cherished doll. Or perhaps its a Hotwheels or a locomotive or model aeroplane. C’mon give us a your best shot!

STARRY,STARRY NIGHTS & OTHER HEAVENLY IMAGES.

Peter Chamberlain Photography's photo.

  The nights are full of wonder, and the further you move away from the bright lights of the city – the more wonder they have for the star-gazers. Today, we introduce the first of a series of guest photographers to help open the Kids With Cameras eyes, and others to what they can find when looking through the camera lens. This image taken by Peter Chamberlain of Port Fairy in Victorias south west focuses on the MILKY WAY. Beneath it, looking like a saucer from outer space provides an eerie concept to the photograph. Tonight, wherever you are take a step outside and see what the skies will reveal in your part of the world. Look at more of Peter’s photographs on;

MISHA STANDS TALL IN THE EYE OF THE JUDGE FOR ANZAC POPPY IMAGES.

Standard

THE inspiring young 7 year old photographer showed a very sensitive feeling in her poignant images of the red poppies, so symbolic of the Anzac centenary in April. Her eye throughout her visit to the city, and Melbourne’s shrine honed in on the flower so important as a memory of the day, and the fallen along with those who returned in her series of shots. FOCUS FORCE is proud of her for the commitment and dedication to the task.

FOCUS FORCE WORDS OF CAUTION. CHOICE MAKER Dr. Pete Marshall has used some powerful words and description describing into what she has seen in these images. FOCUS FORCE suggests that they are read with an adult to help the Kids With Cameras understand their meaning and the significance Pete sees in them.

For the meaning of ANZAC we think MR(2) 12 is the best photograph……….
The words describing it have picked up on the drab dull grey background and the focusing bringing out the vibrant colour as a photographic aspect ……, but we would go further………..
Misha_Anzac2015-11
The positioning of the  brilliantly red poppies, each with its own individuality and standing tall, placed randomly in the bare earth, to me signifies the splendour of the young men who gave their blood for us all. The emergence from  the bare earth amplifying the loneliness of the places where they fell and died, and the lonely horror and futility of war. The GREAT WAR – the WAR to end ALL WARS!
So Misha has captured all this in one photograph. Well Done Misha.
Very Closely Followed by – MR(2) 16.
Misha_Anzac2015-16
This shows the poppies tumbling down the steps into the rain soaked tiles – perhaps reminiscent of the trenches with all their horrific conditions and blood flowing down into them from death above – it also amplifies the sacrifice of the soldiers, which has allowed the development of the modern world, standing tall over the scene,  for the succeeding generations. Is this Eureka Tower a standing symbol for the destruction the Twin Towers in the current War on Terror?? All in one very powerful image, which is well composed and focused too.
POST’S Of PRAISE CHOICE.
Misha_Anzac2015-43
HIGH PRAISE INDEED. This image from the first collection was chosen by the “praisers” as the most popular, and it too, is easy to understand why. Thank you for all those who took the time to help encourage Misha. This image was also the top choice of DR. PETE  in the first collection saying; it has a spirituality about it somehow. A Shrine, yet the soft grasses giving peace to those remembered in their ‘for ever resting  place’.

PJ’S CHOICE. Another POPPY CHOICE. The brilliance of the red in the unreal flowers is brought to life with the effective concentration of light. This with dark background brings out the beauty they behold.

More details to follow, but for now SHARE to spread the great news!

Over the years, the FOCUS FORCE has worked with so many KWC in so many places. Places that in some cases the foto opportunities haven’t been touched. Places that include Tasmania, New South Wales, and WA. Through the FF KWC program I’ve been to the Back Of Bourke and stood atop Mt. Oxley, and to the west where I stood below the crest of Wave Rock. In Tassie, I worked with KWC at Sorell the gateway to Port Arthur. But, what I saw at each location didn’t even scratch the surface. So, now with the beginning of July, the invitation will go out to all Kids With Cameras, no matter where you are to pick up your camera and go searching for your SUPER SHOTS. FF will be looking for the best each month, and from them a selection will be used to create foto stories that tell about your part of the world, and the experiences you have living where you do!

PETE’S WORDS OF ASSESSMENT. focus-force-kids-rockley-1033 Pete Marshall was given the challenge of making the CHOICE of her favorite images for the ANZAC POIGNANT MOMENTS. Her insightful words will be published next Wednesday, July 8 and will give you another view of the works as she saw them.

GOING THE DISTANCE TO FIND THAT ELUSIVE SUPER SHOT!

DSCN1810By going the distance, I mean going that extra yard to find something different in the photo you are looking for. It means searching and seeking out that unusual frame of angle, or effect that adds the WOW POWER to that extra special image! In other words, just take the obvious; look for something different that others may have missed. In a nutshell; use your imagination. That will make the difference.

PERSONAL ASSIGNMENTS – THAT YOU ARE THE ONE CREATING AN EXCLUSIVE FOTO STORY.

This is going to be an honor in itself to be extended to KWC to capture something special that will bring their story to the thousands of others that can read, and see it on FOCUSFOR.WORDPRESS.COM. FF will be looking for ideas, and encouraging the KWC to make their own subject submissions that will open the eyes of others in all parts of the country, and even overseas.

COVERING SPECIAL EVENTS – EVENTS CREATED BY NATURE OR PEOPLE.

It could be a big bright moon rising over the mountains, or the sun sinking into the sea, no matter what or where; it could be the image that will take the breath away of all that view it. We hope that you will be out there looking for it! Then, on the other hand it could be the face of a performer blowing out his cheeks on a saxophone, or a lead singer in a group blasting a song that has a crowd in awe. There things and events happening all over this country that many of us know nothing about, and your images will be bring to the viewers of focusfor.
