2014 ABOUT TO BE A DATE WITH THE PAST – 2015 HAPPY NEW YEAR.

Standard

Lauren Puli on a recent trip to Melbourne city found this view of the old post clock in her viewfinder. The end result is more than appropriate for our last post of 14 – a fantastic year all round. So, we say to you HAPPY NEW YEAR for 15.
CHRISPIC14LP

Like clocks the world over, the time is fast approaching for the chimes to ring out for the end of 14, and the beginning of 2015. As FOCUS FORCE reflects back on the fading year for the Kids With Cameras, we wonder what lies in place for the coming year.

WOW! What a year ’14 WAS.

BUT, you might wonder how do you improve on a year like the one just gone! From the MS EUROPA FLASH OF FRIENDSHIP to the CITY OF CONTRASTS project in July and the eventual delivery of the book to New York and the School Of The Blessed Sacrament. In the Big Apple also the handing over of the book to the Australian Consulate. Then of course there was the ROCKLEY FLOWER FOTO SHOW at the Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show, what a success that was with the greatest collection of impending SUPER SHOTS being presented for the 2015 exhibition. From the show came a new breed of young photographers with several becoming the nucleus of the small group that continued to take part in projects throughout the year. These included; Matthew Borys, Madeleine Puli, Neave Lleyden and of course young Misha Raviparti.

JUST IN. THE STATS FOR FOCUSFOR 2014. BREAKING NEWS; 10,000 ACHIEVED AT 4.35 PM NEW YEARS EVE. 2014.

While we are still just short of the 100,000 mark the numbers keep growing. There’s still a chance, but we’re not complaining about that. It has been a tremendous effort, and FF is grateful for all those that helped make it happen. It is to be noted that naturally, Australia attracted the most views. But then came England followed up closely by Germany. The POP provided a strong incentive and several names featured amongst the regular contributors. They included Paula Finck, Cheryl and Danielle Kohek. And even young Jourdan Kotevski featured in the group encouraging and congratulating others. There were regular views from the US and the entire world, all checking out the SUPER SHOTS and the associated stories. The highest number of VIEWS in one day was 287, with the same number being achieved twice. HOW’s that!

Then we have to make note of the small contingent from Hyden Primary school in West Australia who also made the effort to complete their task. They will be history makers when their works go on show for the Rockley collection in 2015 forming their own feature section for the exhibition. This is the second time that an interstate collection has appeared with the first from Tasmania. On that occasion Olivia Rainbird made the trip to Melbourne with her family to accept her recognitions. It would be a pleasure to have one of the Hyden KWC attend.

DSCN3136FROM ONE BOAT TO ANOTHER. The culmination of the FF KWC MS EUROPA FLASH OF FRIENDSHIP takes it’s final bow with the package delivered to Sydney to be taken on board by AUSTRALIAN OUTBACK TOURS Director Melissa Reid. The collection of gifts for the ship and captain comprises a framed collection of 3 of the Choices including 2 made by the captain, and the Mayor of Glenelg, 2 ceramic mugs and selection of the KizPIKz postcards.

THE ROCKLEY FLOWER FOTO EXHIBTION IS BEING PREPARED IN THE WINGS.

Preparations are taking place for the flagship event at the ’15 MELBOURNE INTERNATIONAL FLOWER & GARDEN SHOW. The SUPER SHOTS are in, and being sent to the judges in mid January. We are looking at the largest collection in years with an exceptional high standard from all ages. Discussions have been held for the announcement of the CHOICES in all categories to be made from the main stage on the first morning. Works from Victoria, and as you know West Australia will be on show. And if you made a POST Of PRAISE and would like to attend, there will be a special offer for you.

There’s little to say on FRIDAY ON YOUR MIND for the end of the year.

Standard

CHRISTMAS GONE, and Boxing Day sales on most people’s mind there’s a lack of VIEWS on focusfor.wordpress.com. So, with that in mind here’s a short flow of words.
NOT MANY PASSED ON THE THANK YOU EMAIL. This was a sad reaction, because it’s FOCUS FORCE Kids With Cameras way of saying thank you to all that supported you.
THE END OF YEAR APPROACHES, and were struggling with the last numbers reaching the goal. While focusfor will probably reach one of its goals, the second may be unlikely. Still a good result!
REWARD POINTS CHANGED LITTLE OVER THE PAST WEEK.
With just the second of the SHOW COLLECTIONS appearing, and sadly no POSTS OF PRAISE being recorded, the numbers have had little different to last week. The final result will be published in the 2nd Friday of January. All participants will have additional REWARD POINTS added for the POP’s, and then the answer to the winner of the movie passes.
MORE MOVIE PASSES – Madeleine and Matthew were told of being the recipient of movie passes back in July for their efforts in gaining POSTS Of PRAISES. These will be forwarded in early January. Congratulations.
THE END OF REVIEW OF ’14 will be published next WEDNESDAY DEC 31 – NEW YEARS EVE. With it will be the beginning of a new year and more CAMERA CHALLENGES – with some major changes to the FOCUS FORCE Kids With Cameras. Winners of REWARD POINT PRIZES will be advised on that date. Hang onto your hat!

BUT BEFORE THE YEAR BEGINS – FRIDAY ON YOUR MIND will draw a blank with no further publications until January 16th.

HO HO HO – MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY!

IT’S ALMOST THE ONE DAY OF THE YEAR  with ONE sleep to go! And what a year it has been for the FOCUS FORCE Kids With Cameras and the program in general. Sleigh loads of recognitions, achievements, excitement and fun from the east to west coast of Australia.Kids with Cameras have been involved in all sorts of achievements which we will talk about before the end of the year. But here we pay tribute to the KWC themselves the wonderful supporters that have come on board making POSTS OF PRAISE. The judges, and the sponsors with a special mention to all the HARVEY NORMAN PHOTO CENTRES with special “noteds” to Con at the QV CENTRE and Ted at CITY WEST in Perth. There were a number of stands at the Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show that posted VIEW POINTS on their sites adding to the success of the project there.

Then with thanks to Captain Hagen Damaschke of the MS EUROPA for his cooperation in making the MS EUROPA FLASH OF FRIENDSHIP such a resounding success. Also Moritz of HAPAG LLOYDS CRUISE LINERS head office in Hamburg for his unswerving help in the project. There were many others, too.

To the government politicians and others including their staff; all the best for the season including the Australian Consulate to NY, and the German embassy in Canberra.

To people like the family of the Tesselaar family, and promotions manager Wendy, a hearty thanks. And how can we be but grateful to Denise Mugavin, Principal of ST. Augustines in Keilor for preparing the CITY OF CONTRASTS commemorative book.

Nikki, Joe and Clint of MINUTEMAN in Melbourne, thank you for all you do in supporting the FOCUS FORCE Kids With Cameras.

A special word of gratitude to Greg and Kat for all the help recognition of the FF Kids With Cameras at the Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show. Here also, we make a note of thanks to all the other Harvey Norman Photocentres who encouraged the KWC. These included Hamilton (Vic), Watergardens, Frankston, Bendigo, Fountain Gate and Albury.

A SPECIAL PLACE IN THE THE CHRISTMAS MESSAGE  giving POST OF PRAISE to all those who did the same for the Kids With Cameras. You have become a great asset to the program with yours words of encouragement for the FFKWC.

AND FINALLY , the Puli family for those dedicated effort in supporting and completing the task of delivering the book; MELBOURNE – CITY OF CONTRASTS to the Australian Embassy in NY and the SCHOOL OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT. Especially under such trying circumstances.

HOW can we finish without saying thanks & merry Christmas to the team of dedicated FF kwc for their efforts throughout the year.

To any of the many others not mentioned here our hearty thanks.

C’mon, step right up cos you’ve got a ticket to ride to see the thrills n spills of the Melbourne Show. Captured through the eyes of Neave and Matthew take a look at the spectacle of the show from the grand arena, to the rides and into the cattle pavilions, it’s well worth the ride. And while you there drop off a POST Of PRAISE. CHOICES from these and the previous collection announced last FOYM for 2014.

THE END OF YEAR VIEWERS NUMBERS continue to grow, but we’ll keep you in the dark until December 29TH when we have one last look and a review of what a wonderful year it has been.

YESTERDAY THE FF KWC OF HYDEN EARNED THEIR STRIPES. The first ever FF KWC AWARDS PRESENTATION took place at Hyden yesterday with 10 of the 48 students part in the WILD FLOWERS OF THE WEST being presented with their certificates and learning who the CATEGORY CHOICES were. All did well, but special recognition has to go to Benjamin Cosh and Mia Biglin. Living in an isolated outback location like this small town can mean a huge commitment. Just to get to functions can be a major chore. So, that’s why FF appreciates to effort of just being there for getting there by the WA state member The Hon Paul Brown MLC and shire councilor Cyril Smith. Thank you to both and any others who may have made the trek including parents and friends.

TTULIPF14-MB10THE WINNER OF THE BUNDLE OF BULBS. Young Olivia G got behind her classmate and made a POST OF PRAISE. Now there’s a smile on her face as we announce that she has 50 TESSELAR TULIP BULBS coming her way in time for Spring planting in 15. Thank you to all that made POPs, and you will be rewarded with a special offer from Tesselaars to make your garden bloom bright next year.

HYDIT14COWI LOVE A SUNBURNT COUNTRY…. this is the countryside of WA FFKWC Ingrid Tipton, who took the time to stop and capture this lonely kangaroo resting in the paddocks. Like many parts of this country, the ground is parched, the skies blue and a hint of clouds but no rain.

THE HIGHEST REWARD POINT SCORER for DECEMBER will win a DOUBLE MOVIE PASS in January. Closes Jan 3rd

It features the flower to  feature in a special section of the ROCKLEY AWARDS in 2015. You find images of the dahlia too, and you have until Jan 20 to submit for the event. So keep an eye out, and your camera handy.
FFMELBSH14-NL10 ALL THE ACTION of the MELBOURNE SHOW will continue on Sunday with the second round of show stoppers to go up. Again Neave and Matthew will show us what they found, and FOCUS FORCE believes that these 2 worked hard in an extremely distracting atmosphere. Our congratulations for a job well done.

THOUGHTS FOR A SCHOOL HOLIDAY PROJECT. With the many days of summer holidays ahead, FOCUS FORCE is considering a foto project for the Kids With Cameras. Consideration is being considered for a flower foto shoot or perhaps a fashion frenzy. What would you Like? Perhaps a focus on Luna Park – or how about the zoo. Tell us if you have any ideas.

There were smiles around for the HYDEN PS FOCUS FORCE KWC who stood and basked in the accolades and applause for their successes in the WILD FLOWERS OF THE WEST foto project run over 2 and half days in August. Official guest the WA member for Agriculture region,  The Hon Mr Paul Brown MLC and Kondinin Shire Councillor Cyril Smith representing  the Shire President announced the AWARD CHOICES proudly handed the students participation and SUPER SHOT certificates. It was rounded off with the announcement of the OVERALL BEST  for which the judge was so impressed he chose 4 for the project. These category winners are amongst the collection that will gain acclaim in the ROCKLEY FLOWER FOTO EXHIBITION at next years MELBOURNE INTERNATIONAL FLOWER & GARDEN SHOW. Hope to see you there.

FLYING HIGH AT THE MELBOURNE SHOW.

Standard

The heading on this article says it all, and in saying that with so many to choose from FF has decided to show this selection of SUPER SHOTs over 2 days, today and the second group on Sunday. All the fun n thrills  are caught by 2 Kids With Cameras when  Neave and Matthew took up the CAMERA CHALLENGE and found an extensive collection of images that caught the show in action. For that reason FF will bring you the expanded collection. Looking at the 2 CHOICES today will have KWC eager to show us what they can do in 15. Again thanks to the ROYAL MELBOURNE SHOW for supporting the Kids With Cameras and we hope that some of these images can go on show next year. Show your appreciation with a POST Of PRAISE.

FFMELBSH14-MB18

ffmelbsh14-mb18.Matthew aimed high to find this image in the sky, and you have admit that it takes the eye and imagination. A inspired image of what is considered to be a staple part of the show excitement. A pic that has all the values of a thousand words, this is high on the list for a POST Of PRAISE.

FFMELBSH14-MB8ffmelbsh14-mb8.A Dogs day is never done as this sheep herder is put through his paces mustering the flock in the city. Matthew ignored the obvious of shooting over the fence, instead using the rails to create a frame. Not showing all the sheep is an interesting gimmick giving us enough to understand what is going on. Tempting for a POST Of PRAISE

FFMELBSH14-NL1

ffmelbsh14-nl1ANOTHER RIDE gives us the feel of all the fun of the fair (show) as kids have their breath taken away in annual jaunt to the grand event. This time Neave shows us what the show is all about.  FFMELBSH14-NL12ffmelbsh14-nl12HEY LOOK at pretty me, and my friend too says the kewpie doll to Neave and her camera. Who could resist such a shot and the young KWC took several before she felt she had it right. A nice image that conjures up all sorts of ideas. C’mon guys surely I’m worth a POST Of PRAISE,

FFMELBSH14-MB11

ffmelbsh14-mb13.Crowds swarm around a contemporary designed pavilion to view the many exhibits on show while others take in the view from high above looking out on the showgrounds and its many attractions. This shot by Matthew  captures the atmosphere that people enjoy, making it a joy for the viewer.

FFMELBSH14-MB13

ffmelbsh14-mb11.The shows equestrian events are world renowned and this image is well designed with the seating providing an interesting backdrop. Don’t be fooled with the lack of spectators FOCUS FORCE will make up for them with viewers here. Jump in and make a POST Of PRAISE.FFMELBSH14-NL10

ffmelbsh14-nl10.Neave asks; How’s this for a purrfect pic of a puss? A fabulous image tells us that a day at the show can be a tiring time for a cat on the town. And purrfect for a POST Of PRAISE.

FFMELBSH14-NL9 ffmelbsh14-nl14. Farming and agriculture stretches throughout history back to the stable in Jerusalem and beyond. This statue at the showgrounds stands as a monument to the backbone of the nation and the people who work daily at it. A well found find by Neave.

FFMELBSH14-MB2
ffmelbsh14-mb2. Swingin high in the sky, Matthew certainly strolled the showgrounds with his head in the clouds. And from the collection of shots it certainly paid off for him, Think its worthy of a POST Of PRAISE?

FFMELBSH14-MB17ffmelbsh14-mb17. Against a blue sky as its backdrop Matthew caught the daredevil moment above him. Shots like this are a challenge, so imagine what this young guy would have caught with an automatic with powerful lens. The first thing in finding a SUPER SHOT is to see the possibilities and then try them. It’s all worth a try!
