NYmd2..Room with a view, high above the streets of Manhattan, Madeleine’s camera takes in the views of the towering sprawling city with its contrast of buildings, and their lofty heights. The Empire State stands out against the skyline. What a city it must be!

NYmd1The Chrysler Building looks to be leaning on an angle like the famous Tower O f Pisa. Its just an illusion created by Madeleine’s camera angle and makes a “dramatic point” as the eye is taken from the bottom to the top left corner. Clever thinking! Worthy of a Post Of Praise.

NYmd3.Creative thinking looking up through the globe  in the forecourt of the Rockerfeller Building towards the tower, and the buildings at the base providing a frame focusing your eye up and beyond.

NYmd2.The iconic Empire state building from the Reckerfeller Centre, the backdrop for scenes from iconic movies including an Affair To Remember and Sleepless In Seattle, and so many others. A must see stop for every visitor to the city. Interesting touches with the telescope and fence added to the image to give feeling to the shot.

NYmd4.Madeleine’s collection finishes with the grand lady herself towering over the waters of the Hudson river, standing tall and proud with her message of welcome and friendship to all she sees, and who gaze upon her. Perfectly balanced composition to the appreciative eye.

About focusfor

The FOCUS FORCE photographic workshop program for Kids With Cameras is based in Melbourne, Australia. The projects have gone beyond the Victorian borders, into New South Wales, and Tasmania.Through others including a backpacker it has been provided to children in Thailand, and a teacher in Portugal has inspired children there as well. Apart, from the fun of learning about the camera and developing the skill of taking better photos; the best of which are raised to the status of SUPER SHOTS,the works have been mounted as collections under the banner of the FOCUS FORCE FRIENDSHIP EXHIBITIONS, and sent as gifts of friendship and goodwill to the United States, Italy, Japan, China - others are still being worked on. The program enrciches the children's knowledge, and as a side benefit makes them more aware of their own surroundings, and all that is to value where they live. Then comes the delight of being achievers, and having their self esteem boosted by their successes. The term "kids with cameras" was first used by the program's forerunner; CLICKER - the "club for kids with cameras", and dates back to the mid 1980's. The name change came about as wanting to be more appropriate to the older student group that the program now works with.

  1. What an amazing city and how lucky you were Madeleine to visit and have the opportunity to capture these icons. My favourite is nymd2 room with a view. This shot really gives the viewer a sense of how big New York City is. I also like nymd2 with the telescope and how you have captured the Empire State Building in the distance. A different perspective yet again. Mum.
