A VISIT TO TOOWOOMBA’S CARNIVAL OF FLOWERS FOUND A Kid With A Camera GETTING READY FOR A BIRTHDAY.

Standard

During the second visit to Queensland gave FOCUS FORCE Kids With Cameras project coordinator got to go to the city on top of the Great Dividing Range. While there local youngster. Lily got in front of the camera, and was happy to pose with hers amongst the brilliant blooms on show for the throngs of visitors on the first day of the event.

DSCN2083A tender 4 years old, she was preparing to grow another year a few days later when she celebrated her fifth birthday. She was only to eager to smile for the camera, and FOCUS FORCE bets there were even more, and bigger ones a few days later. We wonder if she managed to find any Super Shots amongst the flowers. FOCUS FORCE wishes the Kids With A Camera a belated birthday and hopes she had a great day. We’re sure she did!

DSCN2073  A VIEWPOINT FOUND in the Laurel Bank gardens where so many flowers had been patiently and perfectly planted for the visitors to admire. FOCUS FORCE was on a mission to find locations where hopefully the discs will be planted in time for next years carnival, and then inspire local and other Kids With Cameras to go looking for SUPER SHOTS. Those who know Laurel bank will know the place where this VIEW POINT was located. Schools will be invited to lead up workshops prior to next years event. SUPER SHOTS will be chosen and the best included in the next FOCUS FORCE ROCKLEY FLOWER FOTO EXHIBITION at the MELBOURNE INTERNATIONAL FLOWER & GARDEN SHOW. As a practice run a Toowoomba school has been invited to place a VIEWPOINT amongst its garden beds and the Kids With Cameras show us their best shots to be included in the 2015 exhibition. Wonder which school? Take a closer look at the name for a hint!

If it works, and she claims a SUPER SHOT it may be the perfect format for a KIDzPIKz ROCKLEY greeting card to be released at the Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show in March next year. NY SKYSCRAPERS & PLACES ENCOURAGE MADELEINE TO RISE HIGH IN SEARCH FOR SUPER SHOTS.

Standard

FROM STREET LEVEL OF NEW YORK CITY LOOKING UP TO THE UNNERVING SENSATION OF LOOKING DOWN, MADELEINE WAS OBVIOUSLY OVERAWED BY WHAT SHE SAW THROUGH THE CAMERA. HERE IN HER SECOND COLLECTION WE SEE IMAGES SO FAMILIAR TO THE WORLD THROUGH HER EYES.

WEEK ONE – THE IMAGE OF THE SQUIRREL TOOK THE EYE & HEART OF THE POP’S. And, the first to go into the draw on October 11 will be “straycat”. Now, in the second week gaze across the CHOICES and make a selection and POST of PRAISE!

NYmd2..Room with a view, high above the streets of Manhattan, Madeleine’s camera takes in the views of the towering sprawling city with its contrast of buildings, and their lofty heights. The Empire State stands out against the skyline. What a city it must be!

coc ny14 md1

NYmd1The Chrysler Building looks to be leaning on an angle like the famous Tower O f Pisa. Its just an illusion created by Madeleine’s camera angle and makes a “dramatic point” as the eye is taken from the bottom to the top left corner. Clever thinking! Worthy of a Post Of Praise.

A must see stop for every visitor to the city. Interesting touches with the telescope and fence added to the image to give feeling to the shot.

NYmd4.Madeleine’s collection finishes with the grand lady herself towering over the waters of the Hudson river, standing tall and proud with her message of welcome and friendship to all she sees, and who gaze upon her. Perfectly balanced composition to the appreciative eye.

DANDENONG’S HILLS FULL OF FESTIVALS AS SPRING GETS READY TO BLOSSOM.

Tulips have been the flower of fables for hundreds of years. In old England, the fairies were said to rock their babes to sleep, safe in the Tulips petals until morn, when they would open and awaken in the sun. In Persian tales, the first Tulips sprung from the blood of star crossed lovers, Farhad and Shirin, who were similar to our more familiar Romeo and Juliet. The Queen of Fairies herself dresses in the brilliant petals of Tulip flowers. The colour and allure of Tulips has bewitched Sultans and Kings, inspired artists and enchanted nations. Now you have the opportunity to create your own fairy tale in the Tulips.v

There will be spring in the step of the FOCUS FORCE Kids With Cameras when they see the splendour of the tulips at Tesselaars. Thousands and thousands of brilliantly colored blooms all waiting to be snapped with creative flair.

WASHINGTON DC – MADELEINE MOVED BY THE EMOTION – & THE HEART OF A NATION.

WASHINGTON DC – MADELEINE MOVED BY THE EMOTION – & THE HEART OF A NATION.

The Puli family after landing on US soil in LA, transferred to an internal flight which took them to Washington DC. It was here that FOCUS FORCE FRIENDSHIP AMBASSADOR Madeleine put the camera to use. The Americans are very proud and patriotic people and found these stirring images of their sacred locations.

COC WSTN MD14=1

WSTNmd1.  Like a building from the times of early Greeks,  the LINCOLN MEMORIAL looks majestic against the clear blue sky forming a backdrop to the structure. Putting composition in place is the most important aspect of creating an interesting photograph. And, this is a good start.

COC WSTN MD14-3WSTNmd3. What is on the mind of President Abraham Lincoln, killed by an assassinators bullet? If he, like so many others could return to see the world today, and how it has changed. What would he be thinking now, and would be as willing to take on the role again?

COC WSTN MD14-5

WSTNmd5. ARLINGTON CEMETERY.War heroes, politicians and other notable Americans lie at rest in this honored, and peaceful last resting place. From President Lincoln to John F Kennedy, and as you can see thousands of others make this is a gathering of  the nations’ history.

COC WSTN MD14-4

WSTNmd4. The colonnade provides a striking and stark white leading line that displays the grandeur of the national capitol. A simple, but captivating image that takes the eye on a fascinating journey as you study the lines and shadows along the way.

COC WSTN MD14-7WSTNmd-7 The image of Martin Luther King, the fighter for black American rights throughout the 60’s gave his life to their cause. Felled by a bullet for what he believed him. He is remembered for his speech with the words engraved the countries history; “I have a dream”. Here a blue sky again adds the perfect backdrop. Composition with the placement of the statue in the bottom corner.

COC WSTN MD14-6

WSTNmd6.A local takes centre stage at the cemetery and bids the group a fond farewell before they leave for the next stage of their trip to New York. The squirrel, a native to the US is to what Americans recognize as their kangaroo or wombat….. or possum. They are everywhere!

MADELEINE RETURNS FROM NY TO BEING A “WORKING CLASS GIRL” AGAIN.

Standard

Just like Cinderella losing her celebrity status, Madeliene is back in school ,and improving after a frantic time in the United States and NEW YORK. Unperturbed by a stint in hospital, she was bursting at the reins wanting to get on with her trip, and all the things the family had planned to do. Nothing was going to stop her, and this part of her journey.

To deliver the FOCUS FORCE FRIENDSHIP BOOK” Melbourne City Of Contrasts”,she had two destinations. The first being the Australian Consulate where she was met by the Deputy Consul General Natalie Roche. She offered the book as a gift of friendship and goodwill and then asked the Deputy Consul General of doing the FOCUS FORCE Kids With Cameras of Hyden School in West Australia the honor of making her CHOICE from the 3 images of WAVE ROCK she also had with her . You can see the CHOICE below, and what impressed the DCG. The next stop was  the School Of The Blessed Sacrament in New York city, not far from Broadway and Central Park. Here the procedure was the same with Madeleine offering the book to the Assistant Principal, the school and the students.

COCNY PIC2 MAD & DP.TWO WEEKS ago today, Friday Sept.  FOCUS FORCE FRIENDSHIP AMBASSADOR Madeleine Puli fulfilled her obligation to deliver the FFKWC FRIENDSHIP BOOK –

I found it very interesting to see the School of the Blessed Sacrament and how it looked on the inside because when I was walking down the street towards it I had no idea it was a school. It blended in with all the other buildings around it. We met the Assistant Principal Caroline Sliney and I was able to take her through the photo book to explain what things were and how they compared with similar places in New York. I told her that my primary school was quite different from hers as we have lots of wide open space and big offices and classrooms. It was amazing to see a school on the other side of the world.

Wave Rock with the Moon       The image taken by Amberleigh Hendry of Hyden in Western Australia was the CHOICE of Deputy Consul General Natalie Roche at the Australian Consulate in New York. It, along with the other 3 selections will be displayed in the foyer of the consulate for a period of time. Just like an image of the Rock taken in 1964, and took out the grand award at the New York Photographic Fair.

Amberleigh is a year 7 student at the school and took part in the FOCUS FORCE Kids With Cameras foto workshop program only 4 weeks prior to the presenetation.

Australian Deputy Consular General Natalie Roche was impressed by the photographs of Wave Rock and the efforts of the WA Focus Force Kids with Cameras.

She particularly noticed the lighting captured in the photographs and said they would be placed on display in the foyer of the Australian Consular General’s Office in New York along with the City of Contrasts album by the Melbourne Focus Force photographers.

The photos of Wave Rock were also presented to Assistant Principal Caroline Silmey at the School of the Blessed Sacrament in New York City.  We told Caroline a little bit about Wave Rock, where it was in Australia and gave her an idea of it’s size. She too commented on the quality of the photographs and we suggested it was another great reason for her to visit Australia one day! She said she would show the images and those in the City of Contrasts album to the staff and students of the school and encourage any budding photographers to submit photos of their iconic city to Focus Force.  Report by Cheryl Kohek (Mother of Madeliene)

COC NY PIC Mad consul sign

FOCUS FORCE KWC FRIENDSHIP AMBASSADOR takes time out to pose for a cheesy grin photo in the entrance to the Australian Consulate in New York. This is sure to a cherished reminder along with others taken with the Deputy Consul General on this auspicious visit for the young girl.

Visiting the Australian Consular General in New York to present the Focus Force Melbourne City of Contrasts photo book was an honour. The Deputy Consular General Natalie Roche and her assistant Kathryn made us feel very much at home with their Aussie accents and Tim Tams! And they thought the book was great too!
