Stacey Finck took out the image for the FLASH OF FRIENDSHIP  as the MS EUROPA left Portland harbor after her maiden visit, and creating history for being the first ever cruise liner to enter the port. An honor that no other ship will be able to claim. Like all the other FOCUS FORCE Kids With Cameras Stacey was there to claim her moment of fame.

Once again the acting harbor for Portland Port  Altaf congratulates another CHOICE achiever on behalf of the Captain of the MS EUROPA. Stacey shows off her success with not only this, but also a second CHOICE shown below. She had a great day too.

Stacey’s image of the ship leaving the harbor impressed the Captain and he made his opinion felt by making the following comment; – The Farewell Flash of friendship”, the choice was difficult – The captain likes the wave in combination with the ship.

Captains Choice No2.. I took this photo because I liked the rolling waves in it and the rocks just tie the photo in. It wad good because it had the ship right in the middle and still had the port entrance too.

THE CORPORATE IMAGE chosen by Corporate Communications Manager Moritz Krause of Hapag Lloyd Cruises, an avid photographer himself took his eye and felt that it could not be overlooked. He said of the image;  The photos might be a bit “technical” or “mechanical” (due to the bolts in the foreground), however I personally like the way the photo is set up: The crane to the right and the pole to the left frame the main motive, the EUROPA. And the EUROPA comes into the picture from the left. The photo also has a nice division between sky, sea, and foreground (land/bolts).

It took a long time lying on my stomach to get this shot and it was hard to wait for 1 hour to get it.  It looked good for the scene down at the harbour because it had the bauxite unloader in it and that was part of Portland.

THE FOCUS FORCE Kids With Cameras MS EUROPA TAKE A BOW for the FLASH OF FRIENDSHIP will be on show in the BENDIGO BANK in Percy St all this week.

About focusfor

The FOCUS FORCE photographic workshop program for Kids With Cameras is based in Melbourne, Australia. The projects have gone beyond the Victorian borders, into New South Wales, and Tasmania.Through others including a backpacker it has been provided to children in Thailand, and a teacher in Portugal has inspired children there as well. Apart, from the fun of learning about the camera and developing the skill of taking better photos; the best of which are raised to the status of SUPER SHOTS,the works have been mounted as collections under the banner of the FOCUS FORCE FRIENDSHIP EXHIBITIONS, and sent as gifts of friendship and goodwill to the United States, Italy, Japan, China - others are still being worked on. The program enrciches the children's knowledge, and as a side benefit makes them more aware of their own surroundings, and all that is to value where they live. Then comes the delight of being achievers, and having their self esteem boosted by their successes. The term "kids with cameras" was first used by the program's forerunner; CLICKER - the "club for kids with cameras", and dates back to the mid 1980's. The name change came about as wanting to be more appropriate to the older student group that the program now works with.
