Did you hear the roar? Did you feel the floor? There was a crescendo of crashing numbers as focusfor stats tumbled like a domino line of figures.

The focusfor website was first established in January 2010, with very little traffic in that and the following year. However, all that changed in with the running of several projects that drew siginificant attention to the site. Most importantly, this came about with the publication of ROCKLEY RECOGNITIONS. Then in 2011, the AUSTRALIAN INTERNATIONAL MOTOR SHOW saw a new group of FOCUS FORCE Kids With Cameras wearing the JUNIOR OFFICIAL PHOTOGRAPHERS badge. POSTS of PRAISE were introduced for the first time, and this saw numbers go through for the roof for a daily record and, then this being added to the highest month on record.

July, 2011 saw an influx on the site with the first ever significant increase reaching a high of 517 views. The top day for the month saw it climb to 283. For the next 2 years figures remained stastically low with the only highs coming in March, April and May with publications about the FOCUS FORCE Kids With Cameras ROCKLEY FLOWER FOTO results. Apart from a few peaks nothing altered. UNTIL…

Numbers for each year saw gradual increases – that is, until this year. In ’11 the years total was 1300, ’12 made it to 1700 and then 13 reached over 1800. Then came May 2014 and it was a boomer with numbers exploding like  shattering glass. The ROCKLEY RECOGNITION hit in excess of TWO THOUSAND views. More than the total for all of 2013. Then more noise as the annual number grew to 4000 plus – twice the number for last year. And, that’s not only half way through the year!

From the first weekend in May numbers began to hit the high side. Firstly, with Matthew Bory ROCKLEY RECOGNITIONS drawing over 500 hits in the week following. Then little Misha and family achieved a similar response with another 500 plus, then came the staggering numbers of Madeleine Puli – pulling over 500 in TWO DAYS. Wow.Jack and Johanna Hobbs together with Alysha McDonald shared the next week and they between them notched up another 500. The last week saw two more Catriona Alexander and Samuel Taylor go over the top with another 500 views for the last week.. Again we say, a staggering 2000 plus hits for the month. WELL DONE AND CONGRATULATIONS to all of those Kids With Cameras.

The focusfor website draws attention to the site by you and others others who have come in contact with it through our own resources.(There is a facebook site, but very rarely used.) Other than the fb,it does not use other social media at this point to generate viewers. There is a growing data base which has been established through FOCUS FORCE promotiuons including the MELBOURNE INTERNATIONAL FLOWER & GARDEN SHOW as well others coming on board after making POSTS of PRAISE. Others have visited the site through wordpress where the site is hosted.

Other than the first week when a new record was made with a total of 715, the weeks have remained quiet in contrast attracting around two hundred a week. Now with one to go, and the number is still high with more than 1000. Lets see if we can make it to 1500.That’s not a big challenge, is it? COME ON IT’S UP TO YOU!

THANK YOU TO HARVEY NORMAN PHOTOCENTRES in Fountain Gate,(QV) Melbourne. Frankston, Albury, Watergardens, Hamilton, and Bendigo for rewarding the FOCUS FORCE Kids With Cameras with FREE PRINT VOUCHERS.

About focusfor

The FOCUS FORCE photographic workshop program for Kids With Cameras is based in Melbourne, Australia. The projects have gone beyond the Victorian borders, into New South Wales, and Tasmania.Through others including a backpacker it has been provided to children in Thailand, and a teacher in Portugal has inspired children there as well. Apart, from the fun of learning about the camera and developing the skill of taking better photos; the best of which are raised to the status of SUPER SHOTS,the works have been mounted as collections under the banner of the FOCUS FORCE FRIENDSHIP EXHIBITIONS, and sent as gifts of friendship and goodwill to the United States, Italy, Japan, China - others are still being worked on. The program enrciches the children's knowledge, and as a side benefit makes them more aware of their own surroundings, and all that is to value where they live. Then comes the delight of being achievers, and having their self esteem boosted by their successes. The term "kids with cameras" was first used by the program's forerunner; CLICKER - the "club for kids with cameras", and dates back to the mid 1980's. The name change came about as wanting to be more appropriate to the older student group that the program now works with.

  1. Just wanted to say thanks to all of my family, friends teachers and classmates who left a comment for my photos from the Flower and Garden Show. You all really inspired me to take more photos and thanks heaps for the kind words and your encouragement. Focusfor’s is a great way for kids like me to show their skills with cameras and be able to share them with everyone. Thanks – I really appreciate it.

  2. I love being with you and seeing you trying to capture what you can see with your camera. Keep enjoying what you love doing, and looking forward to see more of your work.
