PHIL The day is about to dawn on a new era of history with the arrival of the cruise liner into Portland harbor. And, the maiden visit of a passenger ship into the port ever. The FOCUS FORCE Kids With Cameras have been preparing for the moment and the day, being briefed by FFKWC Project Coordinator Phillip Williams and learning the finer points of Camera Clues to taking better photographs and searching for SUPER SHOTS.
From the time the ship arrives in port to when she departs they will be on the lookout for their quarry, looking for their own unique images. Images that will be go into history, including those that become the CAPTAINS CHOICE, MAYOR’S, PREMIERS and one chosen by the Federal member for Wannon. Mr. Dan Tehan. MP. What an honor for these Kids With Cameras.

FOCUS FORCE KWC AMBASSADORS TO GO ON BOARD AND PRESENT A FRIENDSHIP ALBUM TO THE CAPTAIN & SHIP.

Four young Ambassadors chosen by their schools will go aboard to meet Captain and proudly present him with the album which contains letters from Portland’s mayor, the Premier, and the Federal member for Wannon. Others from FFKWC project coordinator, and the Principal of Portland Ps together with some of her students writings are there also for posterity. The young Friendship ambassadors representing their schools are Rebecca Finck (Portland PS) who will present the FRIENDSHIP ALBUM to Captain Damaschke, Ella Clayton  (Bundarra PS) to Mr Dan TEHAN, Emily Kindred The Captain (Portland North PS) and last but not least, Molly Fisher (PSC). also to Mr. Tehan.
It is 7.10 am and the ship is only just over an away. What a day for these PORTLAND FOCUS FORCE Kids With Cameras. As the Captain of the Queen Elizabeth said; “A flash of brilliance”

The FOCUS FORCE photographic workshop program for Kids With Cameras is based in Melbourne, Australia. The projects have gone beyond the Victorian borders, into New South Wales, and Tasmania.Through others including a backpacker it has been provided to children in Thailand, and a teacher in Portugal has inspired children there as well. Apart, from the fun of learning about the camera and developing the skill of taking better photos; the best of which are raised to the status of SUPER SHOTS,the works have been mounted as collections under the banner of the FOCUS FORCE FRIENDSHIP EXHIBITIONS, and sent as gifts of friendship and goodwill to the United States, Italy, Japan, China - others are still being worked on. The program enrciches the children's knowledge, and as a side benefit makes them more aware of their own surroundings,and all that is to value where they live. Then comes the delight of being achievers, and having their self esteem boosted by their successes.The term "kids with cameras" was first used by the program's forerunner; CLICKER - the "club for kids with cameras", and dates back to the mid 1980's. The name change came about as wanting to be more appropriate to the older student group that the program now works with.
