THE END OF THE ’14 GARDEN SHOW STARTS A LOT OF FOTO FUN FOR FOCUS FORCE Kids With Cameras.

Kids With Cameras had them clicking away looking for imaginative ideas to photograph, and hopefully find the first images for the 2015 ROCKLEY FLOWER FOTO EXHIBITION & AWARDS. What a great event it was!

DSCN1562

As the show draws to a close on the last day viewers still stopped and spent time studying the ROCKLEY EXHIBITION & AWARD winners displayed in the now famous flower foto garden. Many of them again took the time out to make their choices in the POP PIKz POLL to choose the people’s choice for another year. The top two will be then reproduced in the next collection of KIDzPIKz ROCKLEY greeting cards. But before that decision is made the polling go online from Tuesday April 1. until the 1oth.

The exhibition was at times full to the brim  with viewers choosing  their favouritesDSCN1554 in the POP PIKz Poll with many spirited discussions amongst friends as to their choices. What often starts with a little reluctance becomes a concentrated effort in making the right decision. The average time spent doing the job would be ten minutes with some stretching beyond that. FOCUS FORCE considers this to be a wonderful compliment to the Kids With Cameras whose SUPER SHOT works are in the mix.

DSCN1556  FOCUS FORCE Kids With Cameras ROCKLEY AWARD winners visited the exhibition to view their SUPER SHOTS successes on show and bathe in the glory of their recognition. Chelsea Kincade, the 2014 JAS recipient and second place getter in the SINGLE FLOWER category arrived on Saturday. While an overwhelmed and almost speechless Chloe and parents came on Sunday. The young 9 year old is shown here ready to get into more action at the garden show and hopefully like Chelsea put more SUPER SHOTS on the wall in the 20th Anniversary ROCKLEY FLOWER FOTO EXHIBITION when the Kids With Cameras will celebrate  the event being held in the Carlton Gardens. FOCUS FORCE has been part of the event for more than half of those.

2014 saw the introduction of a new game for the FOCUS FORCE Kids Cameras who DSCN1563went out on the search for the VIEW POINTS placed around the Carlton Gardens. The first time this has been an incentive, it was a delight for Phillip, the FOCUS FORCE Kids With Cameras Project Coordinator to hear people coming to the exhibition say that they had seen the signs and were wondering what they were for. Many of the  kids With Cameras left the standing wearing their JUNIOR PHOTOGRAPHER badges and firmly holding their first 200 Reward Points. Shown here one of the Junior Photographers takes a firm grip on the idea of looking for VIEW POINTS with the magnificent GREAT HALL in the background.

FOCUS FORCE IS GRATEFUL to the display sites where the VIEW POINTS were plantedDSCN1546, and we know will transform into a number of SUPER SHOTS to be seen as part of the ROCKLEY FLOWER FOTO EXHIBITION & AWARDS for 2015. We invite you to check in and see what they have to offer. Here are their sites with our thanks.

This magical fairy land was spotted last night before the sun went down. But, we can’t say that it hasn’t up and ran to plant itself somewhere else. That’s the game SUPER SHOTS play. Don’t let them fool you – shoot them while you can.

DSCN1548Here’s another sneaky character trying to throw the Kids With Cameras off the scent by playing with sunlight. What do you think is it all the bad – or perhaps provides an interesting effect. It could be worth the chance. But, then who knows. Especially when you look at the one below and see that the light source was altered to capture the “right” effect. It could be matter of opinion as to which one is right. Once again, what do you think? THINK about it before you take the shot. That way you have more chance of being right.

BE ON THE LOOKOUT FORE THE VIEW POINTS – THEY WILL HELP YOU FIND FASCINATING SUPER SHOTS and set you  on the path to REWARD POINTS.

100 REWARD POINTS WHEN YOU FIND ONE & ANOTHER 100 WHEN YOU TURN IN YOUR PHOTO TAHEN IN THE AREA.

DSCN1549

REMEMBER – YOUR SUPER SHOT DOES NOT HAVE TO HAVE THE VIEW POINT IN THE SUPER SHOT SUBMISSION. IT’S ONLY THERE TO GET YOUR THINKING ABOUT WHATS AROUND IT! THATS PART OF THE FOTO FUN OF THE CAMERA CHALLENGE AT THE GARDEN SHOW.

This morning as the thousands streamed into the Great Hall of the MELBOURNE EXHIBITION BUILDINGS there was a constant gathering of viewers taking the time to stroll in the FOCUS FORCE ROCKLEY FLOWER FOTO GAREDEN for the annual display of winning SUPER SHOTS.

And they weren’t disappointed with this first time judges choice for a vegetable taking the honors as the OVERALL BEST taken by New Norfolk teenager Olivia Rainbird, whose SUPER SHOT turned into pumpkin pie being selected as the Best Creative Image for 2014.

RGSIPSUB14-CO1

Chloe Huang will be extremely pleased with herself having gained the recognition of THE SINGLE FLOWER image which almost looks surreal and if it has been created with a paint brush. An impressive first effort from a 10 year old, who was only 9 when she caught this in her cameras eye.

Below Banjamin Daniels takes the glory as the Overall Best of FLOWERS IN THE ENVIRONMENT with a splendid collection of tulis filling the frame.RGSJOPSUB14-BD4

Also below is BENJAMIN DANIELS effort as runner up in the same category of flowers in the environment.

At last but by no means least comes CHELSEA KINCADES SECOND placement for the shot dubbed by FOCUS FORCE as the Easter Bonnet. Congratulations to all of these successful finalists.

D-DAY AND AN ANXIOUS WAIT FOR FLASH OF FRIENDSHIP SUBMISSIONS.

PHIL

WITH two weeks having passed since the event on Portland’s beach and harbour now FOCUS FORCE is keen to see what the Kids With Cameras caught inside the photo-takers. The first have shown a potential for a great collection to be shown in a FOCUS FORCE FRIENDSHIP EXHIBITION. Someone will gain fame for their images taking out the CAPTAINS, MAYORS, PREMIERS and other CHOICES. What a proud achievement that will be!

And imagine those winning choices being presented to the MS EUROPA and her Captain to be displayed permanently aboard the ship. Another great moment for your life.

AND YOU COULD BE ONE OF THE TEAM to go aboard and make the presentation. Plans are being prepared for this to happen when the ship returns to Melbourne in the summer of 15. Imagine being part of that FOCUS FORCE KWC FRIENDSHIP DELEGATION.

So come on mums and dads get behind the Kids With Cameras and urge them to make their final selection in each of the categories. Remember, also several will be selected to be reproduced as KIDzPIKz postcards.

AND THE FIRST REWARD POINTS HAVE BEEN ANNOUNCED.

EUROPA SAILS AWAY – AND LEAVING BEHIND A FANTASTIC DAY IN HISTORY.

Standard

AFTER A DELAY OF NEARLY TWO HOURS THE SHIP ON HER MAIDEN VISIT & BEING THE FIRST EVER CRUISE LINER TO DOCK IN THE PORT, DEPARTED THE WATERS OF PORTLAND BAY.

ptld pr pf2

Above the “official” photograph of some of the Portland FOCUS FORCE Kids With Cameras gather on Nuns beach for the memory of a memorable day. They had just said good bye with the FOCUS FORCE FAREWELL FLASH OF FRIENDSHIP. The flash being replaced by the release of balloons that rose up the cliff face and lifted high into the sky, floating over the lighthouse and heading inland. They represented Portland, Bundarra & North P schools with Portland Secondary College included. To prepare they returned to the assembly point and filled their balloons with helium gas supplied by Bruce of WELGAS. Then they took their positions behind the rocks at the base of the cliffs and the below lighthouse. As the MS EUROPA sounded her foghorn 3 times that they took their final photo of the day and set the balloons free. So ended a fantastic day on March 8, 2014. Approximately 6.20pm.

ptldpr vf cp-bal Overhead soared the 5 balloons set free from the ships bow which had been given to the Captain by the FOCUS FORCE FRIENDSHIP AMBASSADORS on the ships arrival into port in the morning.

Earlier in the day, after the Friendship Ambassadors disembarked from the ship the project on the beach continued. FF Kids With Cameras, many who continued the task throughout the day got into the action by participating in impromptu workshops. They worked on the traditional formats of frames and leading lines and being creative trying to incorporate, with even one attempting to capture a ship in a bottle. 100 REWARD POINTS earned for iniatative. Another rushed by carrying a dahlia. One showed up using his own picture frame. What great imagination and thinkers. Examples of the many hard workers of the entire day. There will be great results to be exhibited. We look forward to the outcome.

NOW WE PATIENTLY AWAIT FOR ALL THE FOCUS FORCE Kids With Cameras SUPER SHOT submissions to start flowing through, and the process to select those be chosen as their best by Captain Damaschke, The Mayor, Cr. John Northcott, The Premier, Dr. Denis Napthine and Wannon member Mr. Dan Tehan. And in the coming weeks FOCUS FORCE will let you know the date for the exhibition and presentation of certificates.

REMEMBER THE MELBOURNE INTERNATIONAL FLOWER & GARDEN SHOW IS ONLY DAYS AWAY OPENING ON MARCH 26. That means the ROCKLEY FLOWER FOTO EXHIBITION will soon go on show and the ROCKLEY AWARDS for 2014 announced.

MAKE A POST OF PRAISE IN THE COMMENTS BELOW. The Portland FOCUS FORCE Kids With Cameras will be thrilled to read them.

THE MS EUROPA HAS LEFT PORTLAND AFTER MAKING HISTORY ON HER MAIDEN VISIT. WHAT DAY IT WAS, AS A LARGE & DEDICATED FOCUS FORCE KWC RECORDED THE MOMENT FOR POSTERITY & HISTORY.

PHIL

From early morning meeting on the beach at 7.30 am, the group of children supported by willing parents were ready to meet the camera challenge that would turn a marvelous day. The ship, although arriving late, was truly a magnificent sight and subject.

The day started off dull and overcast, but as it progressed the clouds gave way to brilliant blue skies and sunshine. A perfect backdrop for the FOCUS FORCE FLASH OF FRIENDSHIP to The Europa. Like all events of this type there were glitches and hitches, and further delays. But everyone from KWC to parents took it  in their stride and moved on to work on their task of searching for SUPER SHOTS of the first ever cruise liner to Portland. The first indication is that there will be hundreds to choose from.

At just on 10 am the official group were on the dock taking in the view of the ship, and looking for aspects for their SUPER SHOTS. Now, the excitement was building. Then down the gangplank came a ,man dressed in impeccable whites. He introduced him as Christian, and was full of warmth and confidence. He quickly put everybody at their ease, and then  escorted the group on board. Entering the lounge area we were invited to a seat in the luxurious chairs and be refreshed by coffee and cool drinks for the kids and parents. Once more, we were introduced to another crew member, Sybille a hostess, she too was true to her title, chatting and being generally interested in the task that the KWC were involved in. It was surprising how little they were aware of the significance of their presence, and their moment in history.

Then into the room strode another man in whites, and was introduced as the Captain and he soon took command of the situation. He was happy to be with us, and welcome the FOCUS FORCE Kids With Cameras.

The FRIENDSHIP ALBUM was delivered to the ship and presented to Captain Damaschke who  was a generous host, treating the FOCUS FORCE KWC FRIENSHIP AMBASSADORS as true VIPS. He displayed his heart and being a man of powerful decisive decision making quickly allaying ones awe of the situation and bringing brighter smiles to the entire group. The team stayed on board well beyond their time, touring and photographing the ship, visiting the bridge, and then treated to lunch before disembarking. He finished by offering his own gift to each of the Kids With Cameras to be presented  to their schools. And then onto the next part of the day.

We left the ship and returned to the foreshore where another group of FFKWC waited patiently for the return of their coordinator. The small but enthusiastic group participated in a workshop, working on frames and leading lines. Here were seen some great images, including those taken earlier. Walking back along the foreshore the task continued with a parent, Aleisha, who has set up her own photography business added some hints to the group.

Now the day was getting on, and the departure of the EUROPA drawing closer, although an hour later than planned. By 4.30 pm, KWC and parents were returning for the final shoot of the day, and the FOCUS FORCE FLASH OF FRIENDSHIP. Collecting their balloons they took up their positions on the beach and behind the rocks beneath the cliffs beneath the lighthouse. TO BE CONTINUED.

Lastly at this point thanks to all the FOCUS FORCE Kids With Cameras who took part in this mammoth project. You are all to be congratulated and to be proud of your efforts. There will be a an outstanding collection of SUPER SHOTS and exhibition of the best in the months to come. I know that the MS EUROPA will be proud of their participation in the event.
