Chelsea Kincade from Melbourne took up the challenge with her camera at the 2013 International Flower & Garden Show and showed that she had a keen eye and talent. After participating in a number of Camera Challenges she then showed off her talents at the Whittlesea Agricultural Show where the judges showed their appreciation of her efforts.
This image of the tractor took the judges eye and FIRST PRIZE and the SPECIAL AWARD in the category of “Farm Machinery Through The Ages”. From these contributions it is plain to see that Chelsea takes her new found hobby seriously, getting out and about to find something different. Both of these images show the diversity of her interests while at the same time give us an idea of how just how far she will go to add to her portfolio.
When the image of the umbrellas arrived, FOCUS FORCE Project coordinator stopped and pondered, thinking he had seen the location before. He quickly recognized it as being Australia On Collins** where he had seen the rain shields hanging from the roof. First seen in winter 2012, it was thought to be a great subject, and earmarked it for a possible FOCUS FORCE KWC FOTO SHOOT. It never happened, and the image was eventually found by Chelsea on a trip to the city with her camera. She proudly has a FIRST PRIZE from the Whittlesea Show rewarding her for her effort.
The four images show Chelsea’s love affair with her ever faithful dog and along with the other two were all HIGHLY COMMENDED by the show judges. You can show an appreciation of her talent by a POST OF PRAISE. Although not intending a career path as a photographer, the new found skill will be an asset to her chosen field. Expect to see more of her work on the FOCUS FOR KIDS website.
CHELSEA INSPIRED BY WORLD FAMOUS PHOTOGRAPHER.
Chelsea responded to an invitation by FOCUS FORCE to meet renowned and innovative photographer Ken Duncan on a recent visit to his gallery on Melbourne’s Collins St. Ken, as is the custom in November each year was in town to meet local fans and launch his 2014 collection of works. Chelsea went along with her mother and brother to see the images on show. She took the opportunity not only to do that, but also made herself known to the photographer, purchasing one of his books and having it signed. She also took the initiative to ask the master for some hints on how to improve her photography technique. She said of the visit “his work and his talent which gave me a whole new perspective on photography”.
Footnote; This is the second time that FOCUS FORCE KWC have met and spoken with Ken Duncan. The previous occasion was the 2 Kids With Cameras who went to China to deliver the FOCUS FORCE KWC FRIENDSHIP EXHIBITION. They met and chatted with the talented photographer, and the then current star of the group was presented with a book which he also signed. In this small world, it was amazing to walk into the lounge room of the family and see one of his framed images hanging on the wall. That was back in 1999.
**AUSTRALIA ON COLLINS hosted the farewell showing of the FOCUS FORCE FRIENDSHIP EXHIBITION for NEW YORK before its departure for the big apple in 2004. It was officially opened on that occasion by the American Ambassador to Victoria, and attended by guest Kids With Cameras from Bourke, NSW. The centre regularly creates intriguing displays to focus on the current season. Well worth the visit with your camera on a trip to town.
